Funeral Mass for Juan Jose "Johnny" Vera, 54, of Amarillo, formerly of Plainview, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2010, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Arsenio Redulla officiating. Interment will be in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. A rosary will be at 7 p.m. today, Aug. 17, 2010, at Bart?ley Memorial Chapel. Mr. Vera died Sunday, Aug. 15, 2010, in Amarillo after a lengthy illness. He was born June 24, 1956, in Plainview to Martin Vera Sr. and Ramona Vera. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was a technician in the computer industry most of his life. He also helped in the family sheep shearing business. Survivors include his mother, Ramona Vera of Amarillo; one son, Jonathan Vera and his wife, Guadalupe, of Lago Vista, Texas; two daughters, Jessica F. Vasquez and her husband, Edgar, of Round Rock and Gabriella Vera of San Angelo; two brothers, Arthur Vera and his wife, Susie, of Plainview and Raymond Vera of Fort Worth; two sisters, Oralia Saldua and her husband, Juan, of Del Rio and Rosalinda Vera and her husband, Renee, of Amarillo; five grandchildren, Jonathan Vera II, Emmanuel Vera, Fabian Vasquez, Julie Vasquez and Gabriel Vasquez; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Martin Vera Sr., and a brother, Martin Vera Jr. Online condolences may be made at [email protected]
