Obituary

Funeral Mass for Jose Vega, 93, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Bishop Placido Rodriquez of Lubbock officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mr. Vega died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006, at his residence. He was born on Dec. 11, 1912, to Manuel and Maria Vega. He married Epifania Vasquez on March 13, 1937, in Dallas. He was a farmer and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife; seven daughters, Felicita Vega and Juana Vega, both of Canyon, Amelia Sanchez of Plainview, Teresa Machala of Dallas, Isabel Vega and Maria F. Smith, both of Amarillo, and Beatrice Vega of Austin; four sons, Jose Vega Jr. and Alberto Vega, both of Plainview, Manuel Vega of Canyon and Carlos Vega of Ringgold, Ga.; one sister, Isabel Saucedo of Morelia, Mexico; 17 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
