Obituary

Funeral Mass for Manuel Vaquera, 83, will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. John Ohlig, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery by Bartley Funeral Home. Mr. Vaquera died Friday, Aug. 6, 2004, at Covenant Hospital Plainview. He was born April 17, 1921, in Durango, Mexico. He moved to Plainview in 1991 and was a retired farmer. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. In 1944, he married Maria Vitela in Miguel Auza Azc, Mexico. She died June 21, 2004. Survivors include six sons, Sylvestre Vaquera of Miguel Auza Zac, Benjamin Vaquera of Wichita, Kan., Arturo Vaquera, Edmundo Vaquera and Javier Vaquera, all of Plainview, and Manuel de Jesus Vaquera of Hale Center; two daughters, Hortencia Martinez of Wichita, Kan., and Fransisca Macias of Plainview; one brother, Rudolfo Vaquera of Mexico; 56 grandchildren; and 73 great-grandchildren.
