Obituary

Funeral Mass for Lola "Chaga" Martinez Valdez, 71, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Reynaldo Reyes, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Mrs. Valdez died at 11:16 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at her residence. Rosary will be recited today at 7 p.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was born Feb. 11, 1933, in Dilley. She had lived in Plainview most of her life and had worked as a dishwasher for Peter Rodriguez and at Texas Cafe. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Cursillistas. Survivors include five daughters and a son-in-law, Janie and Willie Gonzales of Denton, Eva Aguirre and Rosa Valdez, both of Plainview, Delores Luera of Lubbock and Dora Munoz of Kansas; six sons and three daughters-in-law, Raul and Angie Valdez, David and Linda Valdez, Jose Adame and Ismael Valdez, all of Plainview, Roy Jr. and Liz Valdez of Lubbock and Mario Martinez of San Antonio; one sister, Frances Arredondo of Corpus Christi; 28 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Her husband, Rogelio Valdez, and her mother, Angelita Rocha, are deceased. Viewing also will be at the church.
