Obituary

Funeral services for Edwin L. "Ed" Vadder, 75, of Plainview will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011, at First Christian Church in Plainview with Dr. Max Browning officiating. Burial will take place at 10 a.m. prior to the funeral service at Plainview Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. Mr. Vadder died Sunday, Sept. 25, 2011, in Lubbock. He was born Aug. 7, 1936, in Lovell, Okla. He married Mary Evelyn Strickland on March 28, 1959, in Okemah, Okla. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1958 where he was a member of FarmHouse fraternity. He was a farmer, rancher, entomologist, Realtor and a manager of Floyd County Wind Farm. He was an active member of many agriculture-related organizations. He also was chairman of the board of Christian Manor and an elder of First Christian Church. Survivors include his wife, Mary Evelyn of Plainview; one son, Bryson Vadder of Lubbock; three daughters, Melia Van Kirk of Dallas, Delesa Sweet of Houston and Lelana Hudgens of Lubbock; one brother, Joe Vadder of Hennessey, Okla.; four sisters, Peggy Winters of Lexington, Okla., Linda Racer of Hennessey, Okla., Starlet Jamison of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Joyce Davis of Dell City, Okla.; and 12 grandchildren, Benjamin and Annelise Vadder; Caroline, Christine, Mark, Caitlin and Claire Van Kirk; Brianna, Matthew and Nikki Sweet; and Mitchell and Hannah Hudgens.
