PETERSBURG ? Graveside services for Margie Underwood, 95, of Huntsville, former Petersburg resident, will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Petersburg Cemetery with the Rev. Waymon Swopes, pastor of Greenwood Baptist Church in Midland, and the Rev. John Lowrie, pastor of First Baptist Church in Petersburg, officiating.
Burial will be by Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview.
Mrs. Underwood died at 9 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 1999, in Green Acres Nursing Home in Huntsville.
She was born July 29, 1903 in Keller, grew up there and graduated from high school. She obtained a teaching certificate and taught at Oklaunion. She lived in Vernon, Littlefield ad Clovis, N.M. before moving to Petersburg in 1928.
She taught and substituted in the Petersburg school system for a number of years and moved to Huntsville in 1993. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Petersburg.
She married K.V. ?Van? Underwood on Nov. 26, 1925 in Chilicothe. He died July 26, 1982.
Surviving are a daughter, Margaret Main of Onalaska; two brothers, J.E. Weaver of Arlington and Jack Weaver of Littlefield; a sister, Fannie Jeffries of Littlefield; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Two sons Ken Underwood and Kenneth R. Underwood, are deceased.
