Obituary

Katheryne Tye, 94, of Plainview passed away Monday, March 28, 2011. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 31, 2011, at First Baptist Church Family Life Chapel with Dr. Travis Hart officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Visitation for family and friends will be from 6:30-8 p.m. today, March 30, 2011, at the funeral home. Mrs. Tye was born Sept. 18, 1916, in Lockney, Texas, to the late Judson and Katherine Miller. She married Ben Tye on Nov. 13, 1937, in Plainview. He preceded her in death in 2007. Mrs. Tye loved to play bridge and received her Duplicate Life Masters in 2009. She was a member of First Baptist Church, the Pastor's Class and was an associate member of Searchers Sunday School Class. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Lynda Tye and Benny and Ginger Tye, all of Kress; one sister, Mary Jeane Moore of Lockney; seven grandchildren, Brandon Tye and his wife, Vickie, Darren Tye and his wife, Shelly, Brent Tye and his wife, Codee, Kim Street and her husband, Johnny, Michelle Clark and her husband, Mike, Annette Childress, and Trudi Tucker and her husband, Chad; and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Judson and Katherine Miller; one daughter, Katheryne Ann; her husband, Ben Tye; two brothers, James and Edgar Miller; and two sisters, Virginia Batson and Frances Thompson.
