Obituary

Funeral services for Lillie Diana Trotter, 100, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church in Kress. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home. Mrs. Trotter died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006, in a local nursing home. She was born June 10, 1905, to James J. Groff and Lillie Belle Wells Groff in Grayville, Ill. She married Lida H. Trotter on Aug. 28, 1921, in Plainview. Mrs. Trotter was superintendent of the youth Sunday school at United Methodist Church in Olton. She joined the First United Methodist Church in Kress in 1940 and served in many different aspects from treasurer to president of United Methodist Women. She also did work for the city of Kress and in several Plainview area retail businesses. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Clifford and Irene Trotter of Amarillo and Leslie and G. Vee Trotter of Plainview; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ella Fern and Chester Jones of McClain and Mary and Bill Bloys of Plainview; a sister, Nellie Belle Hall of Plainview; 16 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 30 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Bertha McKinney of Plainview. The family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church in Kress or Area Community Hospice, 3109 Olton Rd., Suite C, Box 5087, Plainview, TX 79072. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Lemons Funeral Home.
