Obituary

A celebration of life service for Jessie Guerrero Torres, 82, of Plainview will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Lemons Memorial Chapel with Pastor Steve Martinez officiating. Interment will be in Plainview Cemetery under the direction of Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview. Mr. Torres died Thursday, April 19, 2012. He was born on July 13, 1929, in San Marcos to Miguel and Catarina Maria (Guerrero) Torres. He and Margaret Rodriguez were married Dec. 3, 1951. She died June 4, 2010. Mr. Torres was a lifelong farmer and involved in league baseball in Ralls, serving as both catcher and coach. He attended the Catholic church in Ralls. Survivors include his children, George and Maggie Torres of Lockney; Carlos Torres of Ralls; and Lala and Frank Diaz, Olivia Campos, Lucy and Salvador Barrientos, Baldemar and Ana Maria Torres, Louis and Martha Torres, Irene and Lee Trevino, and Joann Torres, all of Plainview; Daniel and Daniella Torres of Lubbock; and Irma Linda Martinez of Florida; brothers Mike and Angela Torres of Ralls and Tony Torres of Hereford; sisters Lupe T. Graham of Ralls and Virginia Villanueva of Lubbock; 42 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers, one sister, one daughter, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
