Graveside services for Marvin Dale Thornton, 59, of Plainview will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Plainview Cemetery with Don Bartlett officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview. Mr. Thornton died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, at Texan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born Dec. 30, 1952, in Amarillo. He served four years in the military as a Navy SEAL. He was a carpenter. Survivors include five children, Shawn, Leslie Michele, Stacy Lynn, Amanda and Marvin Dale II, all of Alabama; his father, Buddy Thornton and his wife, Miriam, of Buchanan Dam; his mother, Zorah M. Bartlett and her husband, Don, of Amarillo; a sister, Mary H. Shirly and her husband, Herman, of Amarillo; and a brother, Buddy Curtis Thornton and his wife, Sharon, of Phoenix.
