Obituary

DIED SUNDAY MORNING HERE
-----
HAD BEEN A RESIDENT OF PLAINVIEW THE LAST TWENTY-TWO YEARS

W. W. Thomson, aged 71, died at 9:15 o'clock Sunday morning, January 26, at the Plainview Sanitarium. He had been ill since shortly before Christmas, when he suffered from an attack of influenza, and the last two weeks he had been undergoing treatment at the sanitarium. It was thought the influenza weakened his heart, causing death.

Mr. Thomson was born July 19, 1858, in Kentucky. On October 16 1889, he was united in marriage to Miss Mattie Gillespie, at Reserve, Kansas. She died on July 5, 1928, and was buried in Plainview Cemetery.

Six children survive, four sons and two daughters. They are: Harry G. Thomson, Amarillo; Mrs. Lucile Byers, Amarillo, Mrs. Mildred Hart, Dalhart; John R. Thomson, Yuma, Ariz., [Herbert F.*] Thomson, Fort Worth; and W. W. Thomson, Jr., Plainview.

Besides the children the deceased leaves two sisters and one brother, who are Mrs. W. E. Hunter, Eureka, Kansas; Mrs. J. K. Freed, Scott City, Kans., and E. H. Thomson, Colorado Springs, Colo.

Mr. Thomson and family moved to Plainview in 1907 from Hiawatha, Kansas. He operated a farm near Plainview and for many years has engaged in the interior decorating and paint contracting business here.

He and Mrs. Thomson and one of their daughters were charter members of the First Christian Church of Plainview, and Mr. Thomson was an elder of the church at the time of his death. He and his wife were very active in all work of the church until their deaths.

The body lies in state at the home, 1008 Baltimore street. Funeral services will be held from the First Christian Church at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Interment will be made in Plainview cemetery under the direction of the Lindsey Funeral Home. All other children are here and the brother and two sisters are expected to arrive tonight.
