Obituary

Bill Thompson, 79, of Plainview, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008, at Covenant Hospital Plainview. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 19, 2008, at Plainview Memorial Park Cemetery in Plainview with Jay Don Poindexter officiating. Services were under the direction of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Lockney. He was born Feb. 3, 1929, to Ivan Jefferson Thompson and Mable (Teems) Thompson in Floyd County, Texas. Bill married Vivian Lavern Scott on Sept. 26, 1946, in Clovis, N.M. They were blessed with three children. He was a lifelong resident of Floyd County. Bill was a farmer/rancher for 65 years and a member of the Lockney Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Tim Thompson. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 62 wonderful years, Lavern Thompson of Plainview; two daughters, Debbie and Wilmer Archer of Lockney and Vivian and Ricky West of Dickens; six grandchildren, Michelle and Ray Dubose, Melissa and Shawn Kunselman, Jeff and Niki Archer, Clint Bigham, Meagan Thompson and Laura West; and four great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to a favorite charity.
