Obituary

William "Glen" Thomas of Hale Center departed this life on Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010, at the age of 91. He was born Nov. 10, 1919, in Denton, Texas, to W.S. and Sally Thomas. He married Eva Pearl Owen on Dec. 24, 1937, in Pine Bluff, Ark. In 1937 the couple moved back to where he grew up in Hale Center, Texas, where she passed on Aug. 29, 1967. He married Marie Berlin Steward on Aug. 2, 1969, in Hale Center where they lived since their marriage. He served in the United States Navy during World War II.

His memory will be cherished by his wife of more than 41 years, Marie of Hale Center; a son, Charles, and his wife Marilyn Thomas of Amarillo, Texas; and a daughter, Virginia, and her husband Jimmy Shuey of Abernathy, Texas; a stepson, Gary, and his wife Donna Steward of Denver, Colo.; a stepdaughter, Brenda, and her husband, Bryan Faus of Jacksonville, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents, a wife, one brother and one sister.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, at Hale Center Church of Christ with Silas Short and Dr. Carrol Green officiating. A military service will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Hale Center.
