Funeral services for James Dale Temple, 80, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in College Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Robertson, pastor officiating.
Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home.
Mr. Temple died at 5:22 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2000, in Covenant Hospital Plainview.
He was born Dec. 10, 19191, in Kosciusko, Miss. He came to Texas in 1936 and lived in Olton and Muleshoe. He married Phyllis Truitt on April 15, 1939 in Olton. He moved to Plainview in 1941 and worked as a bootmaker and shoe repairman for Ragland?s Western Wear for 30 years. He later worked for the Plainview school district and for Wayland as a painter. He was a self-employed painter and retired in 1992. He was a deacon at College Heights Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Richard Adkins of Amarillo; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Mary Temple of Boise, Idaho; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
Deacons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family suggests memorials to College Heights Baptist Church Building Fund, 802 Quincy St., Plainview, TX 79072.
