Obituary

Funeral services for W.E. Swift, 87, were at 2 p.m. today in Garland Street Church of Christ with J.W. Hamby, an elder, officiating. Burial was in Plainview Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Swift died Sunday, June 25, 2006, at Prairie House Living Center in Plainview. He was born April 14, 1919, in Erath County to Orrin Swift and Vinecia McGinnis Swift. He married Pauline Rogers on July 3, 1938, in Aiken. He was a truck driver and a bookkeeper for Gulf Oil for 33 years and a longtime member of Garland Street Church of Christ. Survivors include his son, James Swift of Plainview; one sister-in-law, Wanda Rogers of Plainview; four grandchildren, Kim Harrison of Bedford, Kende Jessup and her husband Jason of Odessa, Jason Swift, Cody Swift and wife Misti, all of Plainview; one great niece; one great-great niece; and one great-great nephew. His wife; one son, Don Swift; one brother, Elton Wayne Swift; and two sisters, Dyalthia Swift and Leona Swift, are deceased.
