Gordon Swearengen Sr. Graveside services for Gordon Swearengen Sr., 88, of Amarillo, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Plainview Cemetery with the Rev. Gerald Boerger, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home of Amarillo. Mr. Swearengen died Tuesday, March 23, 2004, in Amarillo. He was born Dec. 14, 1915. He had lived in Plainview most of his life and had worked for the City of Plainview. He moved to Amarillo in 2000. He was a member of the Amarillo Senior Citizens and was a veteran of World War II. His wife, Celia Grace, died in 1988. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Gordon and Johnnie Swearengen Jr., of Amarillo, Clifford Lynn and Kathy Swearengen of Cypress, and Benjamin Richard and Regina Swearengen of Plano; two daughters and a son-in-law, Nancy Judine and Rick Smith and Susan Irene Swearengen, all of Lubbock; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to the Amarillo Senior Citizens Association, 1217 S. Tyler, Amarillo, TX 79101.
