Obituary

Funeral services for Jack Dempsey Swanson, 78, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Manuel Rodriguez officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mr. Swanson died Saturday, April 8, 2006, in Prairie House Living Center. He was born on Dec. 27, 1927, in Beggs, Okla., to Marvin Henry and Hattie McClure Swanson. He married Elizabeth Price on Dec. 31, 1958, in Plainview. He was a veteran of World War II and farmed in the Happy Union community south of Plainview for 54 years. After retiring from farming, he drove a school bus for Plainview ISD. Survivors include his wife; one son, Dan Swanson of Cameron, La.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Donna Ferguson of San Angelo; Sandra and John Bloom of Tulsa, Okla., and April and Jim Wade of Amarillo; one brother, W.H. Swanson of Broken Arrow, Okla.; five grandchildren, Bob and Don Ferguson, Shelly Thrasher and Amy and Jenna Wade: 15 nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews. His brothers, Henry, Roy and Ray Swanson; one sister, Lola Arnold; and a half-brother, Charlie Tittsworth, are deceased. The family suggest memorials to First Assembly of God Church, 1300 N.
