Obituary
Milton "Sonny" Sutton, 72, died Sunday, April 18, 2010, at his residence in Plainview after a lengthy battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 22, 2010, at Seth Ward Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Ritter officiating and Sonny's son, Joel Lane, assisting. Burial will follow in Plain?view Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Sonny was born Nov. 19, 1937, in Arkinda, Ark. He grew up in Pittsburg, Texas, and graduated from high school there. He did a little bit of everything before becoming a ranger with the Boy Scouts of America. He was a member of Seth Ward Baptist Church and the Promise Keepers. He married Lois Arlene Wall on March 26, 1994, in Plainview. He was preceded in death by his mother, Myrtle Taylor, and father, Luther Sutton, and a sister, Hazel Young. He is survived by his wife, Lois A. Sutton of Plainview; five daughters, Diane Crowell of Tacoma, Wash., Tyjunia Whiddon of Porter, Texas, LaFanda Sutton of Houston, Lisa Rogers of Plainview and Shelly Neighbors of Irving; two sons, Milton Jay Sutton of Pasadena, Texas, and Joel Lane of Bastrop, Texas; two sisters, Geneva Barclay and Gene Brotherton of Lockney; 19 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to the Children's Ministry of Seth Ward Baptist Church or the Lockney Senior Citizens.
