Funeral services for Gertrude "Grandma" Summers, 90, will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Lemons Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Don Robertson, pastor of College Heights Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Summers died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, in Plainview. She was born July 21, 1917, in Thomasville, Mo., to Walter and Myrtle Pierce. She married Woodrow F. Summers on March 11, 1936, in Alton, Mo. She was a homemaker. Survivors include four sons and four daughters-in-law, Charles and Louise Summers, and Roger and Glenda Summers, all of Plainview, and Carl and Norma Summers, and Randy and Carrie Summers, all of Henderson, Nev.; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Wanda and Herbert Dudley of Lockney, Faye Shearer of Sugar Hill, Ga., Sarah Flatt of Hale Center and Lucille and Lynn Gaylord of Smithville; two brothers, Paul Pierce and Ben Pierce; four sisters, Bhuela Cate, Bonnie Taylor, Ester Huddleston and Pauline Miller; 25 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Her husband; one son, Jimmy Summers; four brothers; four sisters; one grandchild; and three great-grandchildren are deceased.
