Funeral services for Paul Lewis Stukey, 77, of Plainview will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2007, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Plainview with the Rev. Gerald Boerger officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Mr. Stukey died Tuesday, June 5, 2007, at Covenant Hospital in Plainview. He was born Oct. 11, 1929, to Samuel Clifford "S.C." and Edith Lux Stukey in Carthage, Mo. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Clara Emma Sammann June 15, 1956, at Trinity Lutheran Church in the Providence community. They celebrated more than 50 years of marriage. The couple farmed in Carthage, Mo., until they moved to Plainview in 1959, farming in the Prairieview community. Mr. Stukey served as a board member for the Texas Soybean Association and High Plains Research Foundation in Halfway. Survivors include his wife, five sons and three daughters-in-law, Victor and Nancy Stukey, Leland Stukey, Kenneth and Lea Stukey and Gaylen Stukey, all of Plainview, and Clifford and Lynn Stukey of Amarillo; one sister, Lucille Abbiatti of Carthage, Mo., one brother, Robert Stukey of Carthage, Mo.; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren His parents and one grandson, Bryan Hancock, are deceased. Paul loved to study genealogy and religion. He loved the Lord, his family and everyone he met. Paul will be missed by all. Visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. today at Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Plainview.
