Stubblefield, Joseph M.Jr. (Joe)

Memorial services for Joseph M. Stubblefield Jr., 92, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Parklawn Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Jimmy Cameron, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Hale Center, officiating.

Cremation arrangements were by Boxwell Bros. Funeral Home of Amarillo.

Mr. Stubblefield died Sept. 6, 2003, in Amarillo.

He was born Sept. 23, 1910, in Groom and attended schools in Groom and Clarendon. He also attended Texas Tech. He had lived in Hale Center from 1938 until moving to Amarillo in 1997. He lived in Hale Center until moving to Plainview in 1986 after retiring from farming.

He was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Hale Center and was a 32nd degree Mason.

He married Beth Gibson on July 16, 1936, in Wellington. She died March 10, 1992, in Plainview.

Survivors include two daughters, Jo Beth Shackelford of Hereford and Rita Gay Dye of Knoxville, Md; a son, Joseph M. Stubblefield III of Amarillo; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Seven brothers and sisters are deceased.

The family will receive friends at Celebrations, 520 N. Ash, after the service and suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church of Hale Center or to a senior citizens center of choice.
