The family moved to Haskell, Oklahoma, where she graduated and then she worked in Tulsa, Oklahoma, as a secretary for one of the hotel chains. She helped with Vacation Bible School at First United Methodist Church during the summers. She and Gene spent many happy years playing bridge with their friends and working in the yard together. She loved to crochet afghans which are keeping many friends and family warm today. And she loved laughing with her family. She was a wonderful cook, no family get-together was complete without her desserts and homemade ice cream and she made the best fruitcake cookies. She is survived by one daughter, Susie Stroud and her husband, Bobby of Hale Center; a son Hogie Struve and his wife Bonita of Paris, Texas; five granddaughters, Chrisie and her husband Shane Jackson, Laurie and her husband Aaron Duck, all of Amarillo, Texas, Sarah and her husband Christopher Leonard of Austin, Texas, Kate Struve of Frankfurt, Germany, and Madeline Struve of Austin, Texas; six great-grandsons, Taylor Stroud, Hayden Stroud, Thristan Jackson, Ashton Duck, Spencer Jackson and Liam Leonard; and one great-granddaughter, Berkley Duck In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Cancer Society , 3513 10th Street, Lubbock, TX 79415.
