Obituary
Addie Mae Stone, 95, of Plainview, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at Plainview Health Care Center. A celebration of life service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, in the First Christian Church with Dr. Max Browning officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Memorial Park. Funeral service arrangements are under the direction of Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. today, Jan. 15, at the funeral home. Viewing will be available at the church before the service. Addie Mae Stone was born on April 8, 1917, in Waco to Washington Lafayette Blackmon II and Bessie (Wightman) Blackmon. She graduated from Plainview High School in 1934. Addie Mae and Glenn C. Stone were married on Dec. 19, 1937, in Plainview. Glenn preceded her in death on Dec. 1, 1990, after almost 53 wonderful years of marriage. Addie Mae was an excellent homemaker, a wonderful cook and took great care of her home and family. She was a member of First Christian Church for 75 years and was very active in all aspects of the church. For many years she taught Sunday school and participated in an arts class. Addie Mae was a very talented artist and made beautiful ceramics. Animals were a love of hers and she donated to the SPCA through the years. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her. Addie Mae is survived by her daughter, Jean Shirley Brownd and her husband, Don, of Edmond, Okla.; sons, Gary Glenn Stone of Plainview, Jerry Wayne Stone and his wife, Kathy, of Canyon, Texas, and David Lee Stone and his wife, Charlie, of Grand Prairie, Texas; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her sister, Lillian Thomas of Tucson, Ariz. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glenn; two brothers; and two sisters. The family suggests donations in Addie Mae's name to the Plainview Humane Society, P.O.
