Obituary

Maxine L. Stokes, 92, of Plainview passed away Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008, in Plainview. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008, in Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel. Services are under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be from 4-5:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, 2008, at the funeral home. Mrs. Stokes was born Nov. 4, 1916, in Lone Oak, Texas, to William Patterson and Ida Lucinda Tucker White. She was a charter member and very active at Grace Presbyterian Church. She was also actively involved with hospice. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Lee Stokes; a brother and a sister. She is survived by two daughters, Connie White and Lea Perry, both of Plainview; two brothers, William T. White of Littleton, Colo., and Johnny Dale White and wife, Virginia, of Denton; six grandchildren, Wayne Welch and wife Diane, Susan Price and husband Wesley, Rusty White, Ronnie White and wife LaQuita, Rodney White and wife Deanne, and Royce White and wife Patty; 14 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
