Petersburg ? Funeral services for William ?Bill? Douglas Stewart, 78, of Granbury will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church in Petersburg.
Burial will be in Petersburg Cemetery by Wiley Funeral Home of Granbury.
Mr. Stewart died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003.
He was born Dec. 15, 1924, in Petersburg. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II as a sergeant in the office of Strategic Services, the precursor to the CIA.
After the war, he went into automobile sales in Lubbock and then was in business for himself for more than 50 years. He also was involved in residential and commercial real estate, remodeling, jewelry sales, produce and fireworks stands and Stewart?s Old West and the Appliance Store in Granbury.
He was a member and office holder in several organizations including the Lions Club and Elks Club and was a lifetime member of the Optimist International and the OSS Society.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Merrie; four daughters, Barbara Bland of Manassas, Va., Judy Siler and Cristi Stewart, both of Fort Worth, and Donna Stotts of Coppell; two sons, Michael Stewart of Manassas and Alan Stewart of Grand Prairie; two stepchildren, Patricia Walraven of the Colony and Jeff Lumpkin of Keller; three sisters, Pearl ?Sister? Stout of Shallowater, Shirley Ann Daly of San Ramon, Calif/. And Billie Freeland of Aurora, Colo.; five brothers, Alvin ?Tim? Dewey of Milano, and Charles, Levi ?L.D.? Jr., Jimmy and Robert ?Robbie? Dewey, all of Canyon Lake; 21 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
His first wife, Margaret Heleman Stewart, and a son, Bill Stewart Jr., are deceased.
