Obituary

Funeral services for Evelyn Boggs Steward, 82, formerly of Kress, were at 2 p.m. today at Kress United Methodist Church with the Rev. O.K. Neal, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Mrs. Steward died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006. She was born Nov. 8, 1923, in Comanche County to R.D. and Eunice Boggs. She married Joe M. Steward on Feb. 13, 1949, in Clovis, N.M. He died in 2002. She was a bookkeeper for Carl Losson for six years. She and her husband opened Steward Service and Supply in 1949 and operated it for more than 40 years. She lived in Kress from 1927-96 before moving to Temple. Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jerry Steward, Jay and Debbie Steward, and Nick and Teresa Steward; one daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Sam Hooker; one sister, JoNell Moore; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great- grandchildren. A brother, Cecil Boggs, is deceased.
