Obituary

Memorial services for Charles W. Stephens, 65, will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements were by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Stephens died Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, at his residence. He was born Feb. 12, 1943, in Plainview to James and Louise Stephens. He grew up and attended Plainview schools. He received his GED in the U.S. Navy where he served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the fraternal order of Elks and the American Legion. He was a small engine technician and worked for Evergreen Outdoor Power in Colorado. Survivors include one son, Grant Alkire of Houston; two brothers, Thomas Stephens of Idaho Springs, Colo., and Richard Stephens of Littleton, Colo.; and his mother of Brownwood.
