Obituary

Funeral services for Emma L. Stapleton will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Wood-Dunning Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Drew Travis, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral home. Mrs. Stapleton died at 2:18 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2002, in Atria Cottage Village in Lubbock. She was born Jan. 17, 1913, in Petersburg where she grew up. She moved to Plainview in 1945. On Aug. 14, 1938, she married Howard Eual Stapleton in Petersburg. He died April 28, 2001. She was a member of the Lady Elks Club and First Presbyterian. Survivors include a son, Don Stapleton of Lubbock; two brothers, Hugh and Clarence Sloan of Midland; a sister, Edna Harris of Dallas; four grandchildren, Breck and Kyle Stapleton, Leesa Ventura, Brett Bourland and two great grandchildren, Raven Stapleton and Frankie Ventura.
