Obituary

Funeral services for Edith Stanton Staniforth, 79, were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, in Bartley Memorial Chapel with Russell Harris, minister of Garland Street Church of Christ, officiating. Burial was in Plainview Memorial Park by Bartley Funeral Home of Plainview. Mrs. Staniforth died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006, at her residence under Hospice care. She was born on March 21, 1926, in Hollis, Okla., to Gilbert Edwin and Allie Myrtle Curry. As a child, she moved to the Center Plains community west of Kress. She married James Clifford "J.C." Stanton on June 1, 1945, then moved to Plainview. He died Feb. 6, 1978. She then married Monty Staniforth on Jan. 14, 1983. He died April 30, 1996. She was a member of Garland Street Church of Christ. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Kay Stanton of Plainview; one daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Mike Gilbreath of Plainview; one brother, Clyde Curry of Pampa; four grandchildren, Chris Stanton, Amanda Stanton, Richard Mogg and Cheryl Mogg; and two great-grandchildren, Cassidy Stanton and Carissa Stanton. Her parents; one son, Gary Stanton; two brothers; and four sisters are deceased.
