Obituary

Funeral services for Edwin Turner Standlee, 58, will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Garland Street Church of Christ with Jon Davidson of Turkey and Dwight Franklin of Lubbock, Church of Christ deacons, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Mr. Standlee died at 7:29 a.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2005, in Covenant Hospital Plainview. He was born Oct. 13, 1946, in Haskell. He graduated from Seymour High School in 1965 and Texas Tech University in 1970 with a bachelor of science degree in agriculture science. He taught school at Megargel, Dimmitt, Seminole and Paradise, retiring in 1999. He was founder and co-owner of Elite Show Supply of Hart. He moved to Plainview in 2001. He was a member of Floydada Church of Christ. He married Rena Short on July 8, 1967, in Vernon. Survivors include his wife, Rena; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Leslie Standlee of Nazareth; two daughters and a son-in-law, Amy and James Shrum of Shallowater and Jamie Martinez of Plainview; his mother, Pauline Faust of Floydada; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to the Ed Standlee Agriculture Scholarship Fund at Hale County State Bank.
