Stambaugh, Carson Eugene

Funeral services for Carson Eugene Stambaugh, 72, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Bartley Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jim Ritter, pastor of Seth Ward Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery by Bartley Funeral Home.

Mr. Stambaugh died at 4:03 a.m. Monday, Oct. 27, 2003, at his residence.

He was born March 19, 1931, in Hale Center, the son of the late W.L. and Beulah F. Stambaugh. He grew up in Plainview where he attended schools and worked for The Plainview Daily Herald for 40 years as a pressman.

He was an avid arrowhead and Indian artifact collector and a member of the Plainview Rock Club.

He served with the Texas National Guard for eight years.

On Feb. 3, 1951, he married Delores Lacey in Clovis, N.M.

Survivors include his wife; three sons and daughters-in-law, Coy and Sandy Stambaugh and Mark and Mary Stambaugh, all of Alto, N.M., and Randy and Patty Stambaugh of Lubbock; a brother, Clyde Stambaugh of Belen, N.M.; a sister, Jaunita Cooley of Carlinville, Ill.; two granddaughters, Lissa Stambaugh and Jenna Stambaugh, both of Lubbock; two grandsons, Jon Stambaugh and Steve Stambaugh, both of Alto; and two great-grandchildren, Chelsea Stambaugh and Taylor Stambaugh, both of Alto.

Family members will receive visitors from 6-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
