Funeral services for Patsy Spraggins, 71, of Deer Lodge, Mont., will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Wood-Dunning Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Horace Abbott, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home.

Ms. Spraggins died at 3:45 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, 2000, in Colonial Manor Nursing in Deer Lodge.

She was born on the family farm on Dec. 26, 1928, in Victory, Okla. She moved to Plainview at a young age and lived on a farm in the Halfway community. She attended Halfway school and graduated from Plainview High School. She attended Plainview Business College and Texas Tech University. She began working for Southwestern Public Service Co., in June of 1948, retiring in 1987 from the district office in Lubbock.

She enjoyed tennis, traveling, reading, yard work and working with youth.

She was a charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she was active as an adult sponsor of church youth groups. She also worked with the Community Day Nursery, Cancer Society and Girl Scouts. After moving to Lubbock, she continued her volunteer work at church and with the humane society. She moved to Colonial Manor Nursing in 1992.

Survivors include a brother, Clyde Spraggins of Carrollton; a sister, June Getchell of Deer Lodge; and several nieces and nephews.

A brother, Wilbur Spraggins, a stepsister, Martha Davis, a brother-in-law, W.M. Getchell, and sister-in-law, Betty Spraggins and Peggy Spraggins, are deceased.

The family suggests memorials to Colonial Manor, Alzheimer?s Association or to a favorite charity.
