Obituary

A Celebration of Life service for Ramona Lee "Mona" Price Spencer, 77, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Assembly of God, Plainview, Texas. Internment will be at Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Plainview under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Mona Spencer was taken into the arms of the heavenly angels on Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, at Covenant Hospital Plainview. Born July 28, 1930, in Spearman, Texas, to Harold Donald and Margarete Loretta Henn Price, Mona grew up in Canadian, Texas, graduating from Canadian High School in 1947. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Arthur Thomas Price, William "Bill" Forrest Price, Phillip Henry "Buck" Price; and a son, Michael Timothy Spencer. She married Woody Lee Spencer Jr. in Canadian on June 26, 1949. The young couple moved to Lubbock, Texas, where she worked in the bookkeeping department of Corcorran's Cleaners. The family moved to Plainview in 1962. Mona joined TOPS in 1963, going to work for the TOPS field staff in November 1965 as an area captain. She eventually was promoted Texas coordinator for the North Plains Area, serving in this capacity from 1965 to her retirement in 2005. In her capacity as an event planner Mona chaired both state and international conventions. A member of the First Assembly of God, Mona served as leader of the JOY Fellowship. Over the years she volunteered as the Girl Scouts Cookie chairman and president of both the Lakeside and Thunderbird PTAs. She is survived by her husband; five daughters, Pam Spencer of Canadian, Jan Seago and Penne King of Plainview, Cindy and Colin Toot of Comfort, Texas, and Judy and Kenny Pittman of Roswell, N.M. She was "MoMo" to 14 grandchildren including Joshua Seago, Sarah and Jeff Holt, Jeremy and Kim Berry, Jessica Berry, Caylin Toot, Cameron Toot, Jared and Laci King, Jordan King, Jacob King, Jayden King, Laurie and Mikel Aguilar, Samuel Spencer-Pittman, McKaylee Pittman, Satchel Pittman; and six great-children, Spencer, Matthew and Zachary Holt, Karlon King, Madison Aguilar and Zoey Berry. Additional survivors include one sister, Mary Ellen Ardrey of Slaton; one brother, Larry and EmmaLou Price and a sister-in-law, Sharon Price of Amarillo, numerous nieces, nephews, a precious friend, Martha Taylor, and many other much-loved friends.
