Obituary

Dorothy Burress Spann, 90, of Plainview passed away Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, in Plainview.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, in Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with the Rev. Kimmett Bellows, pastor of Southside Assembly of God, officiating.
Burial will follow in Plainview Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.
Dorothy was born Jan. 18, 1919, in Leedy, Okla., to Henry and Hester Burress. She grew up in Leedy before her family moved to Texas when she was 8 years old. She graduated from Plainview High School. She married D. Orville Spann on Aug. 6, 1941, in Plainview. She was a homemaker. They owned and operated Spann Grocery for more than 25 years. She was a member of the Southside Assembly of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, D. Orville Spann; a son, Gary Spann; a brother, Herman Burress; and her parents, Henry and Hester Burress.
Survivors include a daughter, Marsha Allen of Plainview; a son, Mike Spann of Lubbock; four grandchildren, Kimberly Allen of Chesterton, Ind., Jimi Spann of Montrose, Colo., Erica Spann of Dallas, Texas, and Daniel Spann of Austin, Texas; and two great-grandchildren, Cady McDaniel of Chesterton, Ind., and Josie Houck of Dallas, Texas.
