Obituary

Mrs. Myrle C. Spann, 92, died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010, in Plainview. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010, at Seth Ward Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Ritter, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Plain?view Memorial Park under the direction of Lemons Funeral Home. Myrle was born Aug. 31, 1917, to William Joseph and Bertie Lee (Gilbert) West in Oden, Ark. During WWII she was a ship welder in Houston. After the war she met and married Buster Spann in 1947. Buster had been a POW, and from that grew the future work that Myrle would do with the VFW and the American Legion. Myrle loved to bowl and go dancing. She worked in the Morgan Restaurant at the Hilton Hotel in Plainview and at Perry's Department Store. She also taught Sunday school at First Baptist Church. At the time of her death Myrle was a member of Seth Ward Baptist Church. Myrle was preceded in death by her husband, Buster Spann; her son, Anthony "Tony" Spann; three brothers; and three sisters. She is survived by her sister, Alfreda Green of Lubbock, and numerous nieces and nephews. Online condolences may be made at www.lemonsfunerals.com.
