Obituary

Funeral services for Anthony B. Spann, 48, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Lemons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Ritter, pastor of Seth Ward Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Spann died at 8:35 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, in University Medical Center in Lubbock. He was born May 7, 1954, in Plainview. Mr. Spann graduated from Plainview High School in 1972 and attended Lippert?s Court Reporting School. He graduated from West Texas A&M University. He later received a master?s degree in social work from the University of Phoenix, a clinical hypnotherapist certificate from Miltokn Erikson Institute in Dallas, and was a licensed cognitive behavior therapist. Mr. Spann was a former music director for Seth Ward Baptist Church, Church of God and Grace Presbyterian Church. He also served as program director for Floyd, Hale and Lamb Counties Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse, Inc. He was currently a clinical therapist for the Center for Independent Living at Covenant Hospital Plainview. He was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his mother, Myrle Spann of Plainview; an aunt, Alfreda Green of Lubbock; two uncles, Glenn West of Fort Worth and J.W. West Jr. of Plainview; several nieces and nephews; and his caregiver, William Isley of Plainview. The family will be at 307 Irene St. They will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday in Lemons Funeral Home.
