Obituary

Funeral Mass for Juan "John" Soliz Jr., 64, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Antonio Gonzalez officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Soliz died Tuesday, March 18, 2008, in Lubbock. He was born July 13, 1943, to Juan Sr. and Jacinta Soliz in Nixon. He moved to Plainview from Petersburg in 1959. He married Angelita Helen Rodriguez on July 28, 1969, in Plainview. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a self-employed painter. Survivors include his wife; one son, Fabian Soliz of New York; three daughters, Veronica Nava and Valerie Soliz, both of Plainview, and America Soliz of Houston; four brothers, Frank Soliz of Lake Charles, La., Arnulfo Soliz of Amarillo, Isdel Soliz of Lubbock and Jimmy Soliz of Plainview; one sister, Aurora Rodriguez of Houston; and two granddaughters. His parents; and one brother, Ray Soliz, are deceased.
