Smoots, Norman C.
Army Spec. 4 Norman C. Smoots, 20 was killed in action March 25. A native of Plainvew, the 1967 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, was an outstanding athlete, having earned 15 letters in sports.
Spec. 4 Smoots entered the Army in March 1968 and had been in Vietnam about three months at the time of his death.
Services were to be conducted at 2:30 today in the United Baptist Church. The Rev. Walter Griffin, pastor, was to officiate. Burial was to be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home.
Survivors include his parents Mr. and Mrs. Chinnell Smoots of 1704 N. Broadway, three sisters, Evelyn and Elaine, both of the family home, and Mrs. Willie Clay of Dallas; and his grandmother, Mrs. Ruby Smoots of San Francisco.
