Obituary
Ruth N. Smith, 80, died Thursday, May 15, 2014 in Amarillo. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, May 19, 2014 in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel in Tulia with Rev. Gerald Pesch officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A visitation will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2014 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at the funeral home.
Ruth was born December 8, 1933 in Silverton to Leo and Lucie Boedeker. She attended schools at Prairie View Community in Hale County and graduated from Plainview High School in 1951.
She married Weldon Smith on January 24, 1953 in Providence. They lived in Plainview for 12 years where she worked for JC Penney and Sears and then they moved to Dalhart for 6 months and then to Tulia in 1962. She worked for Huxford's Department Store, Tulia ISD and Alco before she retired. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Weldon who died January 24, 2007, a brother, Eugene Boedeker and a great grandson, Bo McCarty.
Her family includes three sons: Denis Smith and wife Marsha of Canyon, Randy Smith and wife Jo Anne of Amarillo and Gene Smith and wife Rhonda of Spearman, two brothers: Werner Boedeker and wife Thelma and Ervin Boedeker and wife Kay, all of Plainview, 11 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and many great, great grandchildren.
