Obituary

Barbara Sue Smith, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, of Petersburg, passed from this life Thursday, May 25, 2006, at the age of 71 years. Barbara was born July 30, 1934, in Walters, Okla., to the late J.H. Lambert and Oleta Mae (Nichols) Lambert. She attended school in Oklahoma and graduated from Petersburg High School. Barbara married Robert W. "Buddy" Smith on November 3, 1955, in Floydada, Texas. She was the owner and operator of The Little Shoppe for 25 years. She also was a member of the Hale County Home Demonstration Club and Women's Missionary Society. Barbara was very active in her community and her church, First United Methodist Church of Petersburg. Barbara was preceded in death by a son, Robert W. "Hokey" Smith on Aug. 7, 1992; her parents; and a brother, Carl Lambert. Those left to mourn her passing include her husband, Robert W. "Buddy" Smith of Petersburg; a daughter, Debbie Sue Graham and husband Jeff of Amarillo; two grandsons, Tyler Chattin of Amarillo and Ian Graham of Clearwater, Kan.; and two brothers, Charles Lambert of Coppell, Texas and Dale Lambert of Bryan, Texas. The family will greet friends from 6-7:30 p.m., Friday, May 26, 2006, at White Funeral Home, Idalou. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 27, 2006, in First United Methodist Church in Petersburg, with the Rev. Wendell Ferguson officiating. Interment will follow in Petersburg Cemetery. The family requests that memorials be made to the Petersburg Cemetery Association, c/o Security Bank of Petersburg, 1523 Main St., Petersburg, TX 79250.
