Obituary

Jerry Lynn Smith, 60, of Plainview passed away at home on Monday, Sept. 30, 2013. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, at Lemons Funeral Home. Pastor Nelson Gonzales of First Assembly of God will officiate. Cremation service arrangements are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home. Jerry was born on July 27, 1950, in Ft. Worth, Texas, to Eugene and Peggy Sue Smith. Jerry came to Plainview about 10 years ago to be close to his mother and had worked at Excel Meat Packing. He was a simple man, considered to be jack-of-all trades among his friends. He had dedicated his life to Christ in August 1980 and faithfully attended First Assembly of God of Plainview. He had a faithful companion in Astro, his beloved dog. Jerry leaves behind his friends, Randy Warrick, the Thrasher family, and his church family at First Assembly of God.
