James Curtis "Kirk" Smith, 83, went to be with the Lord Sunday, June 22, 2014. A visitation for James will be held Thursday, June 26, 2014, at Sanders Funeral Home, Lubbock, between 6 and 8 p.m. A graveside service will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, June 27, 2014, at Plainview Cemetery with Jack Thompson officiating. "Kirk" was born Sept. 25, 1930, in Carnegie, Okla., to Edna and Barney Smith. He is survived by his wife Linda of Lubbock; son James Smith and wife Marlene of Lubbock; daughter Betty Smith of Lubbock; stepdaughter Rita Thompson and husband Paul; stepdaughter Larisa Dilly and husband Mike Kirby of Lubbock; and stepdaughter Tarisa Anthony of Illinois, as well as 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one sister, Geneva of Oklahoma; and his mother-in-law Ruby Roberts. He was preceded by his parents, six brothers and one sister.
