Funeral services for Hobbie Smith, 89, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Assembly of God Church with Tal Burdine, youth pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home.

Mr. Smith died at 10:36 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2003, in Plainview Healthcare Center.

He was born June 18, 1914, in Lufkin. He moved to California in 1937 and returned to Texas in 1947. He was a retired farmer.

He had been a member of First Assembly of God Church for the past 50 years.

On May 17, 1937, he married Willie Dee Holloway. She died Aug. 21, 2001.

Survivors include a son, Paul Smith of Quarterway; a brother, Merl Smith of Newark, N.J.; close family friends, David and Mary Davila of Plainview; and several nieces and nephews.
