Graveside services for Mozelle Marlin Slaton, 98, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Plainview Cemetery with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor of First Baptist Church, and Jack McClung officiating. Burial will be by Lemons Funeral Home. Mrs. Slaton died at 1 a.m. Saturday, March 27, 2004, in Covenant Hospital Plainview. She was born Oct. 6, 1905, in Eldorado, Okla. She married Henry Dyer Slaton on Dec. 30, 1925, in Plainview. He died Oct. 31, 1978. She was an accomplished artist and enjoyed writing poetry. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and Hale County Historical Society. She was a former member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Young and Jack McClung of Plainview; one sister, Eula Beatrice Marlin Oswald of Plainview; three grandchildren, Rebecca Mozelle McKie, John Michael Young and Stephen Dyer and D'Aun Young; and four great-grandchildren. One son, John Henry Slaton, and three sisters, Faye Belle Marlin Matlock, Alice Naomi Marlin Matlock and Vesta Marie Marlin are deceased. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. tonight.
