Obituary

Richard Sims, 73, of Plainview passed away Saturday, June 4, 2011, in Plainview. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. today, June 7, 2011, at First Baptist Church with Dr. Travis Hart officiating. Interment was in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mr. Sims was born Feb. 23, 1938, in Motley County, Texas, to Jessie Otto and Ruby Marie Sims. He married Edith Hatch on Nov. 21, 1962, in Plainview. Mr. Sims worked in law enforcement with the Plainview Police Department and the Hale County Sheriff's Department for more than 45 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Edith Sims of Plainview; two daughters, Brenda Jones and her husband, Jon, of Floydada and Tracy Johnson and her husband, Randell, of Lubbock; three brothers, Leon Sims of Marble Falls, Bobby Sims of Hale Center and Charlie Sims of Plainview; and three grandchildren, Abby King, Eric Johnson and Marc Johnson, all of Lubbock.
