Sims, Paul Gene

Funeral services for Paul Gene Sims, 78, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Plainview Family Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Shawn Fouts, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home.

Mr. Sims died at 12:25 a.m. Sunday, March 2, 2003, in University Medical Center in Lubbock.

He was born April 23, 1924, in Moody. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for Southwestern Public Service for 40 years, retiring in 1986.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Parents Without Partners, Plainview Senior Citizens Center and Plainview Family Church of the Nazarene.

He married Zula Mae Paxton on Jan. 30, 1948, in Plainview. She died Sept. 16, 1981.

On Aug. 23, 1996, he married Lavern Mason in Plainview.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Sandra Sims of Plainview; three grandchildren and a grandson-in-law, Brook and Ryan Robinson, Bethany Sims and Landon Sims, all of Plainview; and a great-granddaughter, Kristyn Robinson.

A son, Douglas Sims died Dec. 1, 1998, and a sister, Agnes McSpadden, also in deceased.

The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society.
