Obituary
Funeral services for Emma Mae Sims, 64, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Richard Miller of Happy Union Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Plainview Cemetery by Bartley Funeral Home. Visitation will be at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Sims died Monday, Aug. 17, 2009, at Plainview Health Care Center. She was born Aug. 18, 1944, in Vernon to Albert and Emma Lou Yarbrough. She married Casper Sims in 1977 in Plainview. He died March 24, 2006. She moved to Plainview in 1976 and worked for Levi Straus Company for many years. She also worked for Frances Sams at College Hill Day Care. She was a member of Happy Union Baptist Church. Survivors include five daughters and two sons-in-law, Patricia and Rashad Allen, Regina Sims and Connie Yarbrough, all of Plainview, Yolanda English of Fort Worth and Bridgette and Jimmy Vaughn of Oklahoma City; four sons, Billy Yarbrough and wife, Tyrece, of Amarillo, Travis Lynn English of Plainview and Dennis Allen and Ray Allen, both of Tulia; four brothers, Percy Yarbrough of Plainview, Walter Yarbrough of Kansas and Anderson Yarbrough and Andrew Yarbrough, both of Fort Worth; one sister, Helen Brown of Fort Worth; 27 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Her parents; 10 brothers, Abraham, Albert, Jimmy, Henry, Joe, Theodore, Mann, William, Lee and Benny "Earl" Yarbrough; a sister, Edna Thompson; and her twin son and daughter are deceased.
