Obituary
Bobby Sims, 73, of Hale Center, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. today, Aug. 19, 2014, at Kornerstone Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Roger Foote officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Bobby was born on Feb. 5, 1941, to Jessie and Ruby Sims in Matador, Texas. He grew up in Grandfield, Okla. Bobby worked for Texas Department of Transportation as a heavy machinery equipment operator for 28 years. He retired in 2002. Bobby loved camping, cooking out and gambling. Bobby is preceded in death by his wife; two daughters, Maureen and Melissa Sims; six siblings, JR, Kenneth, Wanda, Marie, Richard and Sally; and his dog, Bugsy. He is survived by one stepson, Todd Walker of Plainview; two brothers, Leon Sims and wife Arlis of Kingsland, Texas, and Charles Sims and wife Sharrion of Plainview; one sister-in-law, Edith Sims of Plainview; two brothers-in-law, Don Kelley of Frederick, Okla.; and Mac McClary of Iowa Park, Texas; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and newphews.
