Juanita Simmons, 95, of Plainview, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 2, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, 2015, at First Baptist Church Family Life Chapel with Dr. Tim Marrow officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Juanita was born Oct. 12, 1919, in Electra, Texas, to R.J. and Beulah Parks. She married Alvis Charles Simmons on Jan. 24, 1940, in Plainview, Texas. They enjoyed square dancing and camping in New Mexico and Colorado. She was a seamstress and loved making special outfits for her family and friends as well as the public. Juanita was a beloved caregiver of children, sometimes spanning to multiple generations of family and friends. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2015, at the funeral home. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and eight brothers and sisters. Survivors include one daughter, Pat Brown and husband Bill of Plainview, Texas; one son, Stan Simmons and wife Carrell Ann of Denton, Texas; five grandchildren, Mark Brown and wife Jana of Wolfforth, Texas, Shelley Cannon and husband Mike of Aubrey, Texas, Scott Simmons and wife Kimberly of Aledo, Texas, Daron Brown and wife Kristi of Plainview, Texas, and Debbie Foreman and husband Brent of Yukon, Oklahoma; 10 great-grandchildren, Logan and Sawyer Gillingham of Aubrey, Texas, Michael and Cassidy Cannon of Aubry, Texas, Alyssa, Baylee and Jaxon Simmons of Aledo, Texas, Melody and Cord Brown of Plainview, Texas, Payton and Weston Brown of Wolfforth, Texas, and Robby and Kodi Foreman of Yukon, Oklahoma.
