Lois was born March 2, 1924, to Jeff and Gesina Lee in Rotan, Texas. She graduated from Littlefield High School in 1941. Later she graduated from Texas Tech with a B.S. degree in physical education. She and her husband met while attending Tech and were married in September of 1948. They had a long, happy marriage of 61 years. He preceded her in death in October of 2009.

Lois taught girls P.E. at Estacado Junior High for 23 years. She enjoyed her years as a P.E. teacher and cheerleader sponsor. She really liked to participate in the sports and activities with her students.

There were many things of interest to her. She was a member of 9th and Columbia Church of Christ and taught Bible classes and did other works of the church. She like to sew, read, and do crafts (such as flop-eared rabbits), travel, bridge clubs, cooking and granddaughter sitting. She made a crazy quilt embellished with embroidery beads, old buttons, lace and a tie-tack of Phil's, sentimental and old jewelry, which she finished at age 87.

She leaves a daughter, Cindy Cox and husband Galon of Stephenville, Texas; granddaughters, Denise Boedeker and husband Jason of Weatherford, Texas, Melissa Rogers and husband Richard of Bedford, Texas; four great-grandchildren, London Rogers, Quinton, Gabby and Molly Boedeker.

She is preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Quinton and Steve Short; her parents; two sisters and three brothers; and friends.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Joise Zavala who took special care of Lois.
